Default Flywheel

Why when changing a clutch do people say to change the flywheel? Is there a reason you should do this and what happens if you don't?

There is no need to change the flywheel unless it is damaged.

Most will get it skimmed to remove high/hot spots. Replacing only happens if its banjo'd

He'll just take it to a machine shop to be done. Anything between 40-80 to skim it. It's a false economy not to have it done because if you don't and your new clutch judders then it'll cost a lot more to remove and skim and refit

While the box is out, makes sense to upgrade to lighter fly or at least skim old one.
Pointless going through all that to leave old fly untouched
