Default Woo-hoo! Something good at last!!!

My 98 UK car has been laid up for almost a year...since 16th May last year.

This morning I replaced the battery, which was fekked.

I then removed the connector off the crank position sensor, turned it over for 15 seconds to get the oil flowing, and then, after replacing the connector, tried it.

It went first pull, loads of oil pressure, half a tank of fuel and runs sweet as a nut.

Now to tax it for May and get the sills done, then it can have an MoT for the coming year.

About time something went right for me!!!!!!

I would drive it extremely slowly to the nearest shell or tesco fill it up and stick a bottle of octane booster in before those smiles turn to tears.

It's not going anywhere at the mo, as it's not taxed, and can't be until May 1st, apparently

I have some octane booster, and it has half a tank of Momentum in it. Do you reckon it will have gone off by so much?

Yes definitely, left my old 04 wrx for about 6 months stuttered and power loss like a b1tch filled it with fresh fuel and all was good. Mine had less than a qtr tank so didn't need octane booster.

Not good to lay them up with a lot of fuel in and best to top it up from a couple of cans before you drive it to the petrol station and fill it.

Modern unleaded is shoit when left for anything beyond 2/3 months.

Fuel station is 1/4 mile, so no probs, it will get octane booster before going, and will be driven off boost.

I didn't intend to lay it up when I did...I sort of got overtaken by circumstances.

Mine appears to have magical self healing powers.

Parked up 18 months ago with a slight misfire, not quite hitting boost target and a squeak coming from drivetrain at slow speed.

Back on the road this month, having done nothing to it in between and all the problems have disappeared

Speed course? Doubt it. Where'd he get you? M180 just before the bridge over the Trent?

Scam site No1 for N.Lincs, makes them a mint. He's always there on Saturday mornings, catching holidaymakers going towards Cleethorpes too
Needs someone naughty to firebomb him.

Yes mate my fault , didn't realise I was at that point , lane 1 and 2 had artics competing over that extra mph for the bridge , I hit the brakes , looked down and saw 85 after braking...so could of been worse .
Letter with NIP states 70 limit and course can be offered between and including 79-86 so fingers crossed

Fair enough. Best of luck.

If you get the course, don't forget the stock question:

"All camera partnerships state that enforcement is for road safety. When motorcyclists make up only 4% of road traffic, yet are involved in 38% of serious accidents and fatalities, can you explain why ACPO guidelines have selected forward facing cameras as their favoured type, since they CANNOT catch a speeding motorcyclist?"

And don't accept b/s answers about their being two cameras in vans, two men inside etc etc.

They do exist, and yes they are b/s.
They cost far more than the fine, especially including traveling expenses, but at least you don't get points.

I'm unsure of their effect on your insurance, though, if any.

I would have thought you'd get a discount on insurance because you've been on a Police training course and you'll never be a naughty boy again.

LOL Don't think insurance works like that.

TBH, I think most insurers make it up as they go along......
