Default Strong fuel smell on start

Since getting the car back from Neil it smells strongly of fuel when it first starts, a friend has a blob with a walbro fuel
Pump and said his did the same after fitting it, could it be this? I text Neil and asked and got this reply "It maybe the fuel pipe under plenum, I can take a look at some point" so I'm not sure exactly what it means, and don't wanna be the guy who keeps hassling him either.

Still got that smell after putting my foot down too. Think it is coolant, never smell it when driving normally

I had an RCM one fitted and it stank for a couple of weeks until i put a 6 speed in the boot and spilt gearbox oil everywhere

On a serious note, many people complain of the smell after fitting a new fuel pump and 9-% of the time the smell will go away.

A lot of the time it's down to the seal around the casing that has almost perished over time. When this plate is removed it breaks the seal/gasket. Hopefully it will go away soon for you.

But, if it's a more powerful pump, DO check the flexible lines under the bonnet when the engine is running, look for pinholes.

I had one, then it split and p*ssed fuel all over the hot exhaust and turbo.

Now all replaced with R9 rated stuff.

Never mind not wanting to hassle Neil. I'd be straight down there to let him have a check to ensure no leaks. Don't leave it to chance.

Could be a kink in the rubber oval gasket that seals to the tank, I've had this before when upgrading pumps and the fuel trickles down the back of the tank.
Smells really strong in the car.
