Intermittent boost issue advice needed please
Hi everyone thanks in advance (hopefully) down in the dumps massivly at the minute decided to get wrx 07 hawk remapped recently which was fantastic up until around 5 miles from home where all of a sudden I noticed I was getting no boost at all it felt.
I have tried a few things but to no success
Removed forge bov replaced with original
Squirted soapy water over pipes (no bubbles)
The symptoms seem to be on part throttle getting into boost and it stutters and holds back which is not as bad when you floor it but still there. There is a slight hiss from under the bonnet under boost sounds like drivers side but hard to tell.
Also it's still sounds like like it has a atmospheric bov all be it much much quieter. Oh and if you just Rev the engine it goes through the rpm range nicely.
Last bit as I may have imagined it but originally when it happened just before I got home I'm sure I heard a slight knock/bump from under the engine and it burst back into life! Oh and have stuck it on computer at garage and it's showing no faults
Sorry to go on for so long but so gutted it's broken as not long owned it and now it's stuck in the garage hope one of you guys will maybe have some ideas etc as I'm pretty much stuck!

I take it your mapper isnt local if you didnt return it straight to him when the problem showed up ??
Have u got a boost gauge installed to see whats happening both under vacum and boost and any other mods fitted at mapping time ??
I would take it to a scooby specialist to look over it, fingers crossed its just a pipe come off or split somewhere.

Well spent the evening checking all the pipes etc for splits again no sign of any damage. Also checked downpipe etc and everything else for tightness. Yep tried the reset at garage but no difference. Shouldn't be fuel as still half tank from when it was mapped.
Unfortunately he travels about and had left by the time I phoned as it was over an hour home, he is being pretty helpful so will result in another visit over to him or if he is passing mine maybe.
Would I hear the boost solenoid when stationary and revving? And that is the bit tucked over by the wing.
Thanks for the replies though guys just a waiting game now really as out of my depth now to be honest,so gutting things like this was over the moon on the way home then oh no what's up with it! Fingers crossed all sorted by next month as day out with the little boy to watch time attack at Cadwell. Won't make for as much fun drive up in the wifes fiesta!

The ecu can only be reset via a laptop not on a garage hand held obd scanner. You will hear the boost solenoid click when you turn the ignition on and yes its a small cylinder shape item on the drivers side inner wing with a couple of pipes coming off it. If you have a rolling road near by its an easy way to diagnose split boost pipes etc.

Sounds to me like you've either blown the pipe connecting the intercooler to the turbo off, or it's split.

Well no joy checked and cleaned everything up reassembled still playing up! Good news is it's booked in at mappers to get a bit of direction to what's actually at fault. Thanks again for all your help everyone and will update when I know what it is and possibly on the look out for bits.

Quick test...
Temporarily unplug the boost solenoid electrical connector. This should just return boost system to raw wastegate spring pressure. See if it pays up in this state. If the symptoms totally go away, then chances are it's the BCS and/or its associated plumbing.
...But based on the described symptoms, I don't actually think it will be this... However, it is a free and quick test, so worth doing.
Obviously, seeing as the symptoms started all but immediately after the remap, the smart money is on it to be something with either the map itself, or anything that was altered in the engine bay before the mapping went ahead. Or it could be that the extra boost has brought on some weak points, somewhere (that simply weren't present when at standard levels).
