Unusual Insurance Question - Legal boffins!
A few weeks ago, my missus car, Audi A4 was reversed into by an old lady.
She was driving her sons car, she was unsure if she was insured.
The owner is a business owner and he said his team could arrange to fix the car. Rather than go to the insurance company and destroy his NCB.
His team took the car away, brought it back a few days later and in a nutshell did a terrible job repairing it, paint work was awful.
I told him it was unacceptable, he firstly offered to let the dealer do the repair.
He's playing hardball now, offering nothing to fix this. gone quiet on me..
I signed nothing, have no documents to say i accepted the work....
Just a trail of texts and a police incident number...
Q. what now? go to my insurance firm and start a claim?
Q. Court?
The car is still damaged and need fixing.
Advice please....

You should have reported it right away, even if you didnt intend to make a claim on your own policy. That will be part of your policy agreement.
The above mentioned time limit is not that short; you have 6 years to make a claim (Limitation Act 1980).
If you have the third party's vehicle reg you can trace their insurance and try to make a claim through them, however it may be easier to just call your own insurance company, get them to repair your car, and let them claim it all back from the other side.
I would call your insurer and explain it all in exact detail, including why you didnt report right away, and that the other side offered to settle privately but have messed up on that.

Someone hit my car when it was parked. Adamant that he didn't want to go through the insurance, so I played ball, wasted my own time going to bodyshops for a number of quotations. Went quiet for a while after I sent the details through, and when he did respond to me he said it was a bit too expensive, he had a mate that was a tyre fitter that could fix it for me.
I will never be nice again when involved in any kind of accident. Phone your insurance immediately if someone crashes into you, one phonecall and they will have a hire car with you on the same day and you wont have any hassle. I lost about 4 hours working time, plus so much stress trying to contact the muppet. Not worth the hassle, especially if it isn't your fault.
Might be harsh, but you pay your insurance, might as well make the most of it.

I think by letting him carry out the work you may run into issues... the insurance company now cannot assess the damage. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
Also the Police need to interview the driver if she was not insured. There is an offence there carrying at least £300 fine for her and six penalty points. Then he is in trouble for allowing his car to be used with no insurance. That is use/cause/permit the offence in question and can make him liable to receive the same punishment. If you can't get your money back make sure to make them suffer in another way. Maybe explain that to him and see if he really wants you to push the matter with the Police.
