Some Advice Please Before I Buy
Hi
I currently have a 1997 catalunya subaru impreza,im going to let the wife drive it as ive got my eye on another scoob.
Its a 2005 wrx with 79000 on the clock
is there anything in particular i need to be looking for as im no mechanic?
its had a recent clutch,timing belt,oil pump,pads and discs,all in the last 12 months.
any advice would be much appreciated on what i should be looking for (wear and tear etc)
i havent driven it yet as its a good few miles from where i live,im going to go for a look at it in the next 2-3 days.

My advice would be check the obvious things like oil levels, cleanliness of oil, no mayonnaise type gunk under the caps, take time looking at the service history and make sure receipts correspond with the stamps, amount of tread left on tyres and decent make tends to tell you the owner looks after it by not fitting it with poor quality makes,
The biggest bit of advice though from personal experience would be on the test drive,
Don't be afraid to put the car through its paces because it isn't yours, I in the past have bought a car where ive shown too much respect for the owners pride and joy then a few weeks down the line notice a notchy gearbox, get the car up to speed and don't be afraid to put the car through every gear with a bit of vigour, slam on the anchors and make sure the car stops straight and true,
I'm sure there will be people with better advice but from my own experience this is what I would do and apart from checking the obvious you just have to go with your gut feeling, buying any second hand car can be a risk
