Default Track friendly 3" exhausts?

Im currently running a 3" to 2.5 decat downpipe with a 2.5 to 3" centre and backbox on my 99 type r.

I've been advised that at my power level (400+) a full 3" system would be better BUT I plan to do some trackdays this year and want something DB friendly.

I cant afford to go for a new RCM system or high end so i'm just looking for tried and tested recommendations, plus i'm after a set of unequal headers/up pipe to go with it.

So many different makes of exhaust on the market its hard to know what to buy, but I've read to avoid japspeed or toyosport (even tho its a japspeed on the car at the moment, came with the car and looks/fits fine).

Milltek. I have one of these systems on my car and it's barely audible on tick over compared to some. As for track days - I have ordered a sound meter today, so as soon as that arrives I'll be able to tell you exactly what noise level it makes at three quarter revs. Hopefully that should be of more use to you.

Thanks for all the recommendations so far lads, Im favouring the milltek at the moment as i've seen the quality and they seem reasonably priced on the used market. Just need to find a 3" decat to suit once and headers once I get the catback sections

Revolution, Milltek, Hayward Scott, Cobra

all the major uk exhaust manufacturers make track day friendly exhausts.

Was google not working that day?

Jay, i've had Jperformance parts before and have one of their ally rads about to go on the car. is the £180 the best you'll do on it?

I have seen Revolution and Cobra so called 'track friendly' exhausts make 100dB, and with 101dB cut off that's too close.

Exactly why I asked as i've heard the same thing Blue, saw someone turned away from Bedford with a track friendly exhaust as they have a low db allowance there.

I think it is, as I'm not 100% bothered about selling it. Its a nice looking system so I've been thinking about keeping it just incase I decide to swap with my powerflow system.

And I might buy another Impreza soon if the right Sti comes up. To buy direct from them would cost a lot more, and its brand new
