Hi guys Ive been wanting a Subaru for years and my age now makes one affordable to insure. I have been offered a 53plate blobeye wrx SL 5 speed. Just had a forged engine rebuild 2000 miles ago but 115,000 on the car now running 340bhp. Its £5,500 is this about right or over priced?

Williams Motorsport did the rebuild and area 52 for the remap

What would you say its worth? I want a reliable one and I know this has been looked after I'm just worried of getting one and having to fork out on it with rebuilds etc.

I wouldn't be spending £5500 on a 12 year old WRX with 115K regardless of the engine build.

Basic Rules of Scooby ownership

1. Dont waste your money on a WRX, save an buy an STI
2. Buy a JDM model (Newage twinscroll or Classic Type R) - Far superior cars
3. Dont ask questions about dump valves
4. Dont put stickers on your car
5. Dont let the forum trolls wind you up

Good look on your search, itll be one of the best cars you've ever had (providing you dont buy a WRX or a UK car)

I do not mechanically minded therefore my first Scooby had to be the business because they can be financially painful if you choose the wrong car as can most performance cars.

I made a list of what I wanted & remained patient which was hard at times. Fortunately I chose a great car that has been excellent as far as I'm concerned. I enjoyed the car so much I have bought a Type R so the Blob will be going up for sale in the next 2 weeks.

Again I applied the same principle to buying the Type R (again patience was tested) & found a clean tidy car that will serve me well.

I think the issue with the whole "buy an sti" is that people have a tendency to buy a wrx for cheaper, and modify over several months upto the same power as an sti. When it is just easier to save up a little more and buy an sti (my opinion)

A fair enough reason and in that case the STI is the better choice.

But my point is that not all of us require a STI or are interested in
powwwwwerrrrrrrrr.

I drive a WRX, it is perfect for me and it does everything I need
it to do.

Oh, and I was in no way attempting to troll anyone I was asking

Oh I totally agree, especially as a daily use car!

After looking into it a bit more and reading the replies for 5-6k I am on the border of sti money and you seem to get a lot more car for your money.
