Another dreamer?
Agreed, it looks like a good example but £6k for a 65k classic?

The problem is finding another one is such apparent good condition will take forever if you are on the hunt for one. I would expect half the mileage for that money though.

Not what I'd spend my money on, but I've always said that the price of something to a certain extent has to reflect what's been put into the car otherwise it's not worth selling.

The exact same car (mileage colour price condition non modded service history etc) that I brought in 2006.
I know when you consider its spec then its only worth about £3,500 (high end classic price as less then half the average mileage). However try finding one like that now... If that was preserved in a nice warm garage for another ten years I am sure it would be worth a mint. But as things stand right now I doubt anybody will pay that for it.
I wouldn't put it in the same league as the people wanting twice the going rate for their lexus light modded, sticker covered pieces of s*it.

Difficult to find unmolested scoobs in good nick these days.
This certainly looks unmolested so long as the wiring for the Clifford hasn't been bodged (as they so often are).
Engine bay could do with a dam good tidy up though. Its indicative that this car has seen the elements so the usual places like rear arches etc will probably need some attention in the near future.

They had a Mk1 Golf GTI a few years ago that I took a long hard look at as I still hanker after one after having one as my first proper car. It was bloody immaculate, beautifully presented and worth every penny of the £10K they were asking for it, but I would never have used it as it was too good to drive LOL!

Yep, I've got a crushing soft spot for a concours Mk.I Golf GTI in Mars Red.
My mate had one, albeit nowhere near concours (but not a nail either). There's just something so desirable... so 'nuggety' about 'em.
(Aside from that, I'm not a great fan of VAG...) LOL!

I like the professional way they present the photos and the advert.
Cars are always worth what someone is prepared to pay plus a bit of kidology. If they are prepared to store and advertise it until late Spring and get *say* £4500-4800 for it then they are still quids in compared with a quick turnaround for £3k ish.
History repeats itself with modern / Classic cars. Unmolested standard cars in really good (not necessarily concourse) condition with good 'provenance' will always sell for good money if they are a) Kept long enough and b)Are desirable in the first place.

He certainly has some lovely cars through his hands that's for sure.
I've always had a thing for a Renault 5 turbo and promised myself one, one day.....
My father had an early 80's Gordini turbo when I was a nipper and since then I've wanted one. I almost bought an original one a few years ago but it had the usual head gasket issue so I walked away.
I'd of loved this from the dealer we're discussing.

Got a mk1 cab in the garage, it's in pretty good shape but I need to crack on and restore it.
