cambelt change!! Help!!
So today I set about changing the cambelt on my sti as the last time I drove the car I had a horrible noise from that area and on inspection could see metal filings around the crank pulley!!
So I got on the phone to Alan@ASperformance and order a full cambelt kit which as always turned up the following day.
Anyway once I had removed the crank pulley which I was expecting to be a lot harder, I had hand brake up and car in 6th and using a 2ft breaker bar and gradually lent into the bolt came free!! Once the pulley was off this is what I see
For some reason the pulley has worn through the cover!!
Then on further inspection I found where the horrible noise was coming from. The back of the pulley has been grinding on the nut in the centre of the tensioner bearing
As you can see its worn the nut down and worn the back of the crank pulley and can't work out why!! I thought maybe the pulley was moving on the crank due the the key way/woodruff key being worn but to me this dosent look worn
Anyone ever had this happen? Any help or advice would be greatly accepted.
Thanks in advance harri.

Wow, looks like you caught it just in time. Maybe put it back in and try to wobble it to see if there is any movement. Also check the pulley is not out of true using a metal ruler or something? Might also be worth calling Zen Performance as they always seen very helpful and full of good advice.
Hope you get it sorted mate.
