Default New to the Scooby scene

Hi all, I've fancied an Impreza for a while now, its an itch that won't go away, so have given in and started looking. So far only managed to get £2K together, do you think this will get me onto the Impreza owning ladder? Plan is to get one and then hopefully upgrade to something better in about a year.
Comments, thoughts, advice welcome

Thanks

Jas

Yes 2k will get you a fairly decent impreza. If your looking for a classic.

You will struggle if your after 2001+ as i've seen an 04 plate going for £2500 and needs a new engine

I turned down a 2001 bug wrx for £1600. It had 60k, 1 owner, full Subaru history and a noisey clutch bearing lol. Apart from that it was a nice enough car. Just don't like bugs! I seen it for sale last week for £2750.

They're out there, just gotta keep looking.

The question that you've gotta ask your self is how are you goin to use it? Daily drive or second car/ weekend toy?

I asked the very same question on here back in April n got told if I found one for that budget it would be a dog

I found found a new age wrx wagon for under 2k with full service history, dealer and specialist for 99% of it, I got lucky as the bloke baught to tow a trailer but had no idea what he had and got fair amount of change out of 2k. But this is a daily drive for me

It can be done but be prepared to wait and sift through lots of crap I did.

£2k wont get you much, as described above. WRX models are the generally very lame.

I'd save a bit more before shelling out , buying a £2k car now, it will probably be worthless in a year, so you'd lose money on it.

Buy once, buy right.

Thanks for the comments. I want a 4dr Classic and it will be a second car as I have a van for work. I don't mind if its gota few scuffs or battle scars, main thing, as far as I can see, is getting a sound engine. They seem expensive to rebuild so would rather not have to do that.

I'll keep you posted !
