Thermostatic oil cooler plate
I've just got myself a Mishimoto oil cooler for my 2005 STI, and I intend to fit it with a thermostatic sandwich plate.
The Mishimoto ones are 100quid, they look gorgeous but is there a quality alternative?
It's not something I want to skimp on... but 100?!

i have a mocal one, its fine and works perfectly, opens at 85 degrees and the car now sits around that at all times unless in traffic.
but obviously the cooler itself and where its positioned also has an effect.
not an issue unless you have an fmic then room becomes a problem.

Ah yes thanks Scubbay. Had to clear my inbox down, then forgot who actually sold me the cooler to let you know
Looks like a cracking bit of kit, well made and packaged

I'll keep digging, seems I may be shelling out for a Mishimoto one though.

Just checked the Mocal one, looks good but it seems the female ports for the plumbing are in BSP - and I need M20 x 1.5... which is close, but no cigar! I suppose I could change my hoses, but I'll be eating into the money I'd save on the plate.

I also have a mocal one and i bought adapters to go from male bsp to male dash10, works a treat, also removed the factory modine cooler as redundant and fitted oil cooler between fmic and rad, but i have removed the a/c.

Mocal OTSP1FHF high flow sandwich plate (options - tappings are 1/2bsp, m18x1.5 or m22x1.5) + an EXTENDED m20x1.5 extension bolt + M-SPA1 spacer.
But, specify the 92-104 degC stat, instead of the standard 80 degree (Mocal call them an element, not a stat). Obviously, it's always partly open, but starts to open further at 92, and fully open at 104.
