Default VIN Help

Hi So im new I went to look at a wrx yesterday and everything was awesome untill I checked the log book vin against the chasis vin they didint match up.

On the log book/mots it had GS8 and on the car Chasis it had GC8.

Can anyone recommend what I should do as I really did like this wrx just worried about the vins not matching but it did have a couple of bits of paper work with GC8 on so im not sure what to think it is a import if that helps 1995.

Thanks

VINs dont match? Can the seller give reasons and prove as to why they dont match?

If in doubt, walk away.

No he hasent even noticed it as he has only owned it for about 4months but cant afford to keep it. Would the DVLA be able to help if I gave them a ring im guessing it is just a key input error when it got imported.

The car has a full mot,tax until April and was imported on 2005
It's a wrx import, jus check everything on the car to make sure it's right or get an AA inspection if your not sure. Car looks nice and clean from pics

It will be the dvla records that are wrong. Happens all the time. Nothing to worry about

Yeah it is very clean Thanks. Yeah think i may get AA to check it over Iv just come across this website http://www.catherineandken.co.uk/sti/wrx.html and it only has Body type F=Wagon C=Sedan So the (S) has got to be a typo error.

I just got the VIN off him and the one on the Logbook is: GS8029067 & on the chassis it is GC8029067
As mentioned above, the "S" will be a typo.
On the VIN plate it will be in the format: GC8-029067
This is the VIN number for a WRX sedan.
Your model code should be GC8C48D with option code BJC & trim code of 520.
See here: http://www.type-ra.com/impreza-model...?query=GC8C48D
for more details.

The vin number of my JDM V3 is six characters ignoring the GC8 at the start of it. The one you have, apart from the GS8 bit looks fine.
