What do you guys use? I'm on the hunt for a set of 195/45/16's for the Clio. Cheers

Hi mate. There's not many people running 16 inch track day stuff. I only know of me and Justin A. For my impreza I've got a set of dunlop x10's there not really a track day tyre, there a rally slick for sprinting etc, I actually bought these of Justin. The other set I have is Michalin pilot sport cups. I haven't tried these on the impreza yet, however.... I originally used these on my clio track day car that my mate now has. Great tyre! There not great from cold, infact thier poor. Once you get a couple of laps in they really start picking up, once fully up to temperature they are simply superb. Road legal too
They come with very little tread on from new, but they seem to be lasting relatively well.
What clio is it that the 16's are for?
In my experience if its a 172/182 is best suited to 15's for track work, that's what we used. Great selection of tyres then.

The ginetta race cars run the pilot sport cups in 15's. part worn ones are cheap and readily availble.

Joe

I'd go for 195/205 50 15 for the Clio you got, 16s are for looks and 15s are for go.
Thought you of all people should know that coming from CS.

Yeah I do mate. But weighing up options as the car will only be used for track and the occasional Sunday blast. Either stick with what I have now and buy a spare set of 15's that I can swap. Or buy a decent set of 16's I can just use to get there and back to save faffing. Looking around at tyre options/prices it's option a, spare set of wheels

Yes they are mate, it's not really like your "road" Michalin pilot sports.
They are widely used on Porsche 911's and m3's in Germany. Nearly every other car at the ring has these on.
Again if its for a clio on track, I'd advise 15s pal

Cheers Joe. 15's are the best, was just covering all bases. Is it best just to keep an eye out for the tyres on the likes of ebay, or is there anyone you can recommend?

I'm personally not a fan of used rubber. I only bought the x10s of just to get a feel of what they are like, with a view to buying a new set for next years sprints. However they are now discontinued. So I will more than likely run the Yokohama a006t
As used by a lot of the sprint guys.
I've always thought camskill are pretty well priced. There are also decent new sets come up on eBay every now and then. Just keep your eyes pealed mate.
