Default So turns out its the turbo (smoke problem)

Took the car the garage today to be told its the turbo thats making it smoke, car is a wrx blobeye running (i think) standard turbo so my question is what turbo will i have and also can i easily upgrade to another turbo and also anyone on here want the job

I think its a td04 on yours bud. Upgrade would be a td05 convertrd to front entry or vf series as said 34 or 35. Should see 340 bhp or so.

Braveheart sti does a hybrid billet TD04 that will make 320bhp and spool like crazy. It's really not about headline figures, it's all about the curve.

cheers guys and are these items just a bolt on or does it require further mods and i take itll need remapping in?

You'll need an uprated fuel pump and remap if your after more power, i'd also suggest at least replacing the catted up pipe with an sti de-catted one to get more gasses flowing and improve spool as the standard one is quite restrictive.

You could also save yourself a big bag of money and just buy a standard TD04 off one of the breakers on here for about £60 bolt it on and away you go, same as before, no map required.

i really appreciate all this info bud thank you, if i did just buy the standard turbo for now until funds are abit better is it a simple-ish job to do or will it be expensive labour wise

It's not a difficult job but it is a pain in the *** job, if you've never done one before it's best to take it to a specialist and make sure they put in new gaskets and have some bolts handy as they can sheer and round the nuts getting them off.
