Tints
Looking to get tinted windows in the next couple of weeks. The best price I've got is from Globaltint (Southampton) They will be carrying at the work at my house. Does anyone have any experience of them, and will there be quality issues if work carried out outside? Also would like to know if police would generally turn a blind eye to 35per cent in the fronts as it not too dark

As for turning a blind eye, I would hope they wouldn't as the the fronts have to let a minimum of 70% of light through.

Cheers for the comments. My wife brought a mini a few years ago from a mini dealer and it had darker tints to the front (not factory fitted). I thought that vision was fine then. I will take on board your comments but is 70 percent essentially plain glass?

Essential reading for you I think https://www.gov.uk/tinted-vehicle-window-rules
Tinted vehicle windows: the law
The Driving Standards Agency (DSA) and Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) have merged to form the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA).
The rules for tinted front windscreens and front side windows depend on when the vehicle was first used. There are no rules for tinting the rear windscreen or rear passenger windows.
Vehicles first used on 1 April 1985 or later
The front windscreen must let at least 75% of light through and the front side windows must let at least 70% of light through.
Vehicles first used before 1 April 1985
The front windscreen and front side windows must both let at least 70% of light through.
Penalties for having wrongly tinted windows
It’s illegal to fit or sell glass (or a vehicle already fitted with glass) that breaks the rules on tinted windows.
The police or DVSA vehicle examiners use light measuring equipment to measure window tint.
If your windscreen or front side windows are tinted too much you could get:
a ‘prohibition notice’ stopping you using your vehicle on the road until you have the extra tint removed
a penalty notice or court summons
Tinted windows are not part of the MOT test.

I'm not sure the police are going to accept the 'well, my wife had tinted windows and you never stopped her' line of reasoning, but you can try honey So, how about you go with the 35% in the front and if you get pulled over by the police in the next 6 months then I get to choose new spoilers for both the Scooby and the 350z....deal?

Initially quoted £250, but asked if they would reduce and they dropped to £195. Thought that was pretty good compared to other quotes that I got. If you are able to get it cheaper it would be appreciated.

don't worry too much about the cost, do you want a good job or a cheap job?
I went for one that was known locally as being cheap, ended up taking him to the small claims to get my money back
