Default rubbish window tints

i've wanted my windows tinting for ages, i saved up the cash and paid for them to be done by a local company (GPA SIGNS in rotherham)

i asked if the back window would be done in one piece, he said it would be done in 2 pieces, but i wouldn't be able to see the joint and i wouldn't be able to tell that it has been done in 2 pieces either.

can anyone tell it's done in 2 pieces then?

i've been to see him and he said i'm been picky and unreasonable asking him to sort it out!!!!!!!!!!!

t0sser. trading standards here i come!!!!

Oops! That is a bad job mate, you must be absolutely gutted, is doing it in two pieces standard practice?

What have other people experienced with window tinting?

i questioned him when he said it would be done in 2 pieces, but i've seen instructions in the past and they say 2 pieces. he said i wouldn't be able to tell

he did a good job with the join, it was bang in line with the heater element, so it's not seen, not like a random straight line across the window

i found out he used the end of one roll and then started a new roll
if he knew he didn't have enough, why not just start the new roll?

it's not just a shade difference, it's not even the same colour

he said it's not his fault, it's a manufacturing fault.
he supplied and fitted = his fault

This Is a joke surely !!!

No company would let a car leave with a tint like that, it's absolutely terrible.

Small claims court? Rogue traders? Local press? You could do a lot of damage to his reputation if you were that way inclined...

There is a garage near me called 'MT Cars'.
A while ago some chap who obviously fell out with them parked his car at there front gates with a huge sticker in the back window saying 'MT Cars = MT Promises'

Was quite funny to see and I did hear the guy got his problem swiftly sorted.

Tell him to do it properly and all the same colour or peel it off and refund you. Tell him if he does not comply you will take him to small claims court. Trading standards will not be interested.
Its easy to sue via the small claims and can even be done online. I doubt it will go that far as no business will want a judgement against them.

Mine was done in one piece - with tinted glass reinforcing film.

I asked for a very light tint on the side windows (to comply with the law) and he applied pimp tints all round Side windows was dangerous (and illegal) as basically I couldn't see **** all unless it had lights on (especially the door mirrors).

I didn't pay on the premise that the guy didn't have to come back to remove it....I now know why; It took ages to get all traces of the adhesive off. Left it on the rear screen as there was no way it could have been removed without damaging the heater elements (plus the rear screen was ok...I'm used to driving vans with no back windows ).
