Default Rb5 advice please

Looking at buying another impreza and been offered a nice rb5, tbh I really don't know a lot about them so thought I'd ask on here what you guys think, it's a t reg, done 100k but in excellent condition fsh, all belts and fluids just done, stacks of receipts to prove the 300bhp, it's had it's rear arches done but to a good standard, I know you can't give an exact price but what roughly is the going rate for one of these in good condition, the price iv been offered is between £4000-£4500 would this sound about right, any advice at all would be really appreciated, thanks

rb5 was just another version of the uk turbo 2000 with differant wheels, the colour was a one off ,and the seats have rb5 written in it was still same spec and bhp as uk turbo 2000/wrx at 218 ish bhp.and fog light covers with rb5 on

some of the rb5`s have a cool prodrive spoileron back that i personally like but others came with the normal mid leval .

the price ,good classics are going up but saying that for that money your looking at classic sti, blobeye wrx money evan some bottom range sti`s are gonna be hitting 4.5k

as much as i love my classic if i had 4 to 4.5k sitting about a blobeye i would get ..

classics evan rb5`s are old now so with no modding of your own the maintainance might be high ,i just did all shocks, lowered teins springs, top mounts and that was £600 with me fitting it , the second hand stuff i saw was not worth it . and i done every bush on car and with me fitting them was over £550 not a job i would do quickly again

with the 300bhp that will, have had a turbo change for sure and ecutek map at £550 then exhaust and so on if its on a td04 then max is 280ish some mappers had nearly 300bhp but then turbo blows so most mappers back them down to 280bhp with serporting mods

hope this helps

RB5s don't have fog lights they have PIAA driving lights fitted behind those covers. The WR Sport version with the larger rear wing is 237 Bhp. It also has a quick shift as standard and as you say nicer interior with limited edition plaque.

However for 99 car I would say price is a bit rich.

Standard RB5 vs Standard UK Turbo MY99

1. Solid Rear Bulkhead (simple straight strut brace off an STI to you and me)
2. 17" Speedline Wheels & Pirelli P-Zero Tyres
3. Steel-Blue Metallic Paint (grey off an STI to you and me)
4. Map Reading Lights
5. Individually numbered RB5 Plaque (behind gear ****)
6. Red Stiched Momo Steering Wheel (more STI parts)
7. Red Stiched Gear **** (yet another rumage through the STI parts bin)
8. Air-con
9. PIAA Driving Lamps
10. RB5 PIAA Covers
11. Blue Alcantara Seats and Door cards
12. Grey-metallic centre console trim
13. RB5 Embosed car mats
14. RB5 Decals on front wings and boot lid
15. Colour-coded side skirts and wing mirrors
16. Quickshift (forgot that one )
17. 215bhp same as UK Turbo 2000

WR Sport RB5 v Standard RB5

1. Prodrive-badged Back box
2. Prodrive/STI de-cat centre
3. Prodrive ECU
4. Prodrive IC hoses
5. 237bhp
6. WR Sport embosed rev counter
7. Prodrive spolier
This is same as any UK Turbo MY99/00 with PPP fitted.

The confusion lays with many magazines and people thinking that the RB5 comes with the prodrive performance pack as standard which is not the case. Remember that this was an option and any UK Turbo MY99 or MY00 can have exactly the same Prodrive Performance Pack fitted like what has been mentioned from points 1 to 7 under WR Sport RB5.

THE WR SPORT DID NOT HAVE ANY PRODRIVE SUSPENSION MODS. IF YOU FIND AN RB5 OR MY99/00 WITH THEM, IT'S BEEN ADDED BY THE CUSTOMER/DEALER.

Hope this clears everything up .

I don't know why but from what I've noticed, all the RB5's I've seen for sale have either A) High mileage, B) badly modified, C) A dog.

I've not once seen a nice standard RB5 with low-ish miles up for sale.
