Default really confused !!

Right let me explain the whole story because I'm beyond confused!

Purchased a oil temp gauge about 4 months ago, it was a cheap job off ebay but got it wired in correct and has worked a treat. However the LEDs part of it stopped working so couldnt really see what it was showing unless i looked really closely (its on of those blackout ones).

anyway decided to purchase a new gauge which came with a new sensor, didnt bother fitting the sensor as I knew the old one worked but it was just the LEDs that didnt. Anyway the new one didnt work at all, never showed the temperature at all. Ebay seller denied all knowledge of selling me the item so started a ebay dispute.

Through this period I fitted the old one and now the old one doesnt show the temperature at all either.

Took the old sensor out and fitted it with a new sensor, now the old gauge starts at 100 degrees and the new gauge doesnt read at all.

Literally no idea what the issue can be, i've checked all the wiring and have resoldered all the joints and that seems to be all ok.

any suggestions would be welcomed!

Have had something similar with chinese/ebay gauges, Use the sensor that come with new gauge with the new gauge, also how many wires does the sensor have ? Have you tried the wire around another way

It had three wires, live neutral and sensor. Tried them all ways around.

Will give new gauge and sensor together a go

If you have tried them all ways you have prob fried the sensor.

Sounds like the old sensor may have fried the new gauge.

ALWAYS use gauges and their senders in pairs, use the one supplied, do not mix.
