Damien's Legacy is 600 ish, Andy Grady's is over 500 IIRC. Not sure on Dave Coe's or Matt Webster's cars.
Power isn't everything, but you'll need a fair whack of it, and some deep pockets for the entry fees etc.

It's not really about the money I was aiming to make a reliable 500-550bhp race car but want to compete in it I've looked at the other motorsports and it always seems to be lower power and loads of rules. I know I'm not going to be competitive with the big boys but in club class it is possible I also want to compete in some drag shoot outs and possibly totb

If you go into any other series the costs will skyrocket meeting MSA and series rules.
Try the sprints in a lower class then if you like it develop the car later to suit what you enter.
You don't want to throw huge money at a car until you really know what your aiming for.
Power is not your first concern though. Decent brakes, handling & suspension mods and tyres will do more for lap times on a lot of the sprint tracks than a few more BHP. A decent driver helps obviously. An entry level class s1 car was faster than a lot of cars with almost twice the power at the last event.
If you want to aim for 500-550 you would be looking at s2 class.

I want to start using mine, and been down south, there isnt alot of places to do this, I was looking at hill climbing, but the effort and cost involved to make the car comply with the MSA regs etc is a nightmare, and by the time you buy proper suits, helmets, gloves etc it costs an arm and a leg.
I dont know if anyone knows, and sorry for the off topicness! why is a motorbike helmet not suitable for racing purposes?
I have the shell of the car to protect me, all the helmet is there for is to protect my head from the rollcage etc, now a motorbike helmet is good enough to protect a guy against the tarmac, surely it could take a knock against a cage?! It cant be anywhere near as powerful as coming off a bike!

I can only echo what sonic says, it's a superb series. I've attended every event this year, unfortunately due to a bit of poor planning in my part I've only being able to take part in one event. In doing so I've met loads of great people and learnt a hell of a lot along the way. Get yourself to an event and get involved

In fact, just Teeside on the whole isn't a very good place.

It's not a premium track but you will still get a feel for the events.
Surely you're not implying that Teesside is a sh*t hole ;-)
