Default feels like aqua planing, help please!

I have recently fit spacers on me 06 hawk wrx so I can fit 18s. They are an inch thick. Now the wheels fit fine but when driving depending on the surface it feels like the car aqua planes very slightly.
is there anything to fix this? Is stuff not tight enough? I am thinking to just going back to my original 17s. I put some anti stick grease on the spacer. Would it be the brakes?
I'll be honest I feels down right dangerous.

1" Spacers?! That's about as thick as I've heard of! Normally 10mm type stuff.

Why spacers for 18's? Surely there are plenty that fit over the standard brakes?

1" thick spacers? I cant imagine spacers that wide will be doing any good!

Why do you need spacers to fit 18's?

Would have thought 25mm would have to be hub extension really sounds excessive for spacers to me.

I couldn't find anything smaller for 5x100 to 5x114.3! Fortunately they were only 75 quid. I'm regretting having got them though.
Think I will put old wheels on maybe a 1cm spacer spray wheels and get better springs.

I have been silly I know. But you live and learn

Anyone want almost perfect set of 4 enkei 18inch wrx sti wheels? mega lolz

With a 1" spacer each side you will change the suspension geometry quite a bit.
You are more thsn likely just experiencing a tramlining effect as you would have changed ackerman angles, bump steer, suspension movement etc.

A 5mm spacer as suggested above shouldnt make much difference

I've got the same spacers .it was a temp thing to fit under abw arches and mine feels sketchy as hell even though I've had a geo done since. I didn't think it would make such a difference. Its only like running a lower offset wheel and Subaru's are a high offset in the first place.

Are you running the spacers on the front or back and did you check the wheels properly as the front wheels have more of an offset than the backs, have a look at the depth of the rim where it bolts against the hub and youll see what i mean.

If im honest I just dont think it looks that good anyway. Or at least the wheels dont look right. Just gonna get a decent set of 17s.

in answer to an earlier question. I had a set of enkei wrx sti 18s but the pcd was 114.3, standard wrx wheels are 5x100 so needed an adapter. Plus the tyre tread is 45mm so it looks like a jeep! Not what I planned

As I thought, so it wasn't really a spacer you wanted but you needed the adaptor which ofcourse sticks the wheel out further.
Best bet is to sell the 5x114 wheels and get yourself a nice set of 5x100 18's which won't require any spacing and fill the arches just nicely

You're on the button. Might just get decent 17's and lower the car too.
