I have had my 2006 WRX now for just over a week and it was making some very odd knocking noises from pretty much every wheel area.

I don't think the wheels had ever been taken off the car as they were bloody difficult to get off. I think the previous owner must have cemented them on!

All I did was give the arch, suspension, brakes and wheels a damn good clean. Now I have no knocking noises! I did fear a part of the suspension had gone and ordered two new lower ball joints just in case.

So (and coming from a relatively inexperience scooby owner) not all knocks and noises are things going wrong, sometimes a damn good clean is all that's needed!
