Decision time.. Forged hawk or wide track blob?
Hi everyone,
There's probably a few threads already out there but I want to make this one unique to my situation, just looking for some personal experience/opinions on what model to buy!
I'm looking at either getting a wide track blob eye or searching for a forged hawk.. I'll only have a 10k budget so finding the hawk will be hard as I'm very picky.
Just need some views on what people think would be more enjoyable. I will be tuning it up to the 400bhp mark and this is my first subaru so I need some advice!
Thanks!
Ryan

I'd go for the hawk all day long if given the choice. You have the pros and cons of the 2.0 vs the 2.5. Obviously forged the 2.5 should remove the reliability issues. The 2.5 has better torque but the 2.0 is smoother and a lot more rev happy. Of course the early wide track blobs have cheap tax too so there's that to consider.
In terms of looks, the Hawk wins it by a country mile for me.
This all changes if you can get a Spec C but you never will for that budget.

Yeah I know.. Shame really that's the colour I'm after! I think if I can find the right hawk I'll go for one of those.
Realistically how much is it going to cost me to change the parts that need changing before It goes if I were to buy one which hadn't already been rebuilt ?
Seems i can buy a non forged one with low ish mileage for about 10k then just get the engine done after wards?

depends where you go tbh, for a proper forged rebuild job prob 2-3k + vat if the engine hasn't let go, if it has will depend on the damage, mine killed the block, one of the heads, turbo, 2 pistons and all that was reuseable was a single head lol

I have the WTB Type UK in CGM on the lower tax, I love it to death. The only thing I wish I had from a later model / Spec C is the sweep clocks. Or the whole Spec C itself

I have a forged 2.5 and they are a pleasure to drive in and around town and when you want to give it some beans! The torque they produce should be enough to sell it to you

Have a look at Hurst Cars Website. They have a very nice blue blob, 2.5 forged 480bhp 510 torque had £20k spent on it at Scooby Clinic. Ok its a WRX but it looks like its had all the right stuff spent on it. For sale at £9750.
