Default 400 bhp ?

I know you have to take into account 4 wheel drive transmission loss but what would 400bhp at the fly be at the wheels roughy.Just need it for a guide.

Entirely depends upon the rolling road type being used.

I was told by one of the chaps at Cosworth that the CS400 makes around 335bhp at the wheels.

Yep, which is why once up and running there are so many 2wd cars that Impreza's can't drop.

If you want to get picky, you're not even scratching the surface..... I could bore you to death about other factors that are way more involved than "simple" transmission loses, when it comes to WHP measurement.

A fully open dccd box has lower transmission losses than a viscous diff box

If it was only as simple as that.

There is more than a simple factor of WHP with regard to car a, accelerating faster than car b "on the road", when we're talking about two distinctly different cars as you're alluding to.
