Red face

Have spoken to Howard, this is an STi4 if anyone else rings him thinking its a Sti5

Edited to say, the SIDC site says the model code is an STi4, but other sites say its an STi5

So I guess it is a 5 then! Sorry!

The plate it went on in the uk is merely an estimate of manufactured age based on the documentation provided to the dvla when registered (so based on paperwork from japan) and in itself isnt really a gurantee of its model, i know of some less than scrupulous importers who doctored paperwork to get a newer reg plate (not saying this is the case here at all).

Have a look to see where the dump valve is attached to,
(bolted onto intercooler or not) or does it have a 'sulking lip' style front grille etc.

There should be tabs on the seatbelts somewhere stating the month and year of manufacture.

The seat belt tag is a fact so check the date stamp on it. If it can't be found then what's the reason for it.

Come on guys there a few differences:

Huge wing or standard MY99/00 UK wing.
Front bumper, one or two holes under the front indicators.
Dump valve - is it bolted to the intercooler or not.

Obviously the seat belt date will give an indication, as will the VIN number.

A picture of the front, back or engine bay should settle it!

T-reg just means it was registered between March and August 1999, although it might have been built as a late MY98 and stuck on the boat, in a shed, etc until it was registered in 1999.

Hi all...
M_S the story is that I advertised a wanted ad for a sti for a friend...Howard rand me and told me he will be getting this car...my mates after a 2door so anyway after talking to him for quite some time I explained to him that the car was not for me but for a mate and he has a car to swap so anyway cut a long story short Howard asked if I knew anyone interested so i suggested he post it on scoobynet and he may get someone who wants one....

He said he thought it was a Version-5..supplied knew in the UK by a proper dealer and also has service history....
No large rear spoiler as it supposedly was stolen or attempted stolen and replaced with a small spoiler...

If you ring him leave him your number and get him to ring you....

Please note I do not know Howard personally apart from our conversations on the phone therefore I cannot vouch for him...

I think the best thing would be to take a look at the carif you live local and see what the crack is... (so to speak)

Thanks.
Raf.
