How long did you have it for sale?

Obvisouly a dealer is gonna rape you on price, just because people on a subaru forum didn't want it no need to get pissy

Sad your car did'nt sell m8, but not many people going to be looking for one of them on a Scooby board.
Lots of scoobs don't sell on here also as most users not on here to buy a car. If I'm looking I go to autotrader/findit/etc. Dealers have to make money too, just annoying when you take a big hit. Been there, done that.

2k premium by the dealer seems pretty low. He has to make some money for heavens sake, and also has to maybe service it, put a warranty on it etc - also he needs room to negotiate. Anyway if u had a better offer u would have taken it. The dealer may have it in stock for 6 months then lose money on it at auction.

thanks for the replies folks but just to go over old ground as some of you didnt read;;;
i tried 4 times in autotrader and from the very start of spring through summer
oh and a dealer needs to make 2k on a second hand car does he?
i had a friend who used to be in the business and know from experience a warranty would cost him £250 and together with a "service" thats what £100 being generous so there £2000 to play with less £350 = £1650 profit aint bad if you ask me
oh and they will make £500 on ebay for selling the hardtop seperatly

One other thing Metro running gear!!! yeah well enough said I suppose the 2litre turbo sti is the old running gear from a subaru sumo van

2000 minus VAT on the sale price minus valeting costs minus servicing costs minus warrenty costs minus advertising minus the pain of having a ****e car on the forecourt that won't sell untill the weathergets better. I think he did you a favour at 8.5k

hey luan ive already mentioned the costs
and as it happens its only a ****e car cos you obviously dont like it so keep your opinions to yourself unless ytou have something more useful to say as this is a place for discussions not idiotic bloody answers like that
I suppose as he is an experienced dealer with over 25 years in the trade he would buy a car knowing he wouldnt be able to sell it!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah engage your brain before your gob opens up next time
Or maybe your a bit of an arthur daley yourself

with him beinh an experienced dealer he is out to make money and if you think you were done you could have taken it somewhere else-it was your car you cannot blame scoobynet for not selling your mgf you could have tried mg owners club etc or waited till spring it is unfortunately a buyers market

Any car is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it,look at the silly deals MG/Rover are doing on new and pre reg cars compared to the list price. Blame them for the depreciation. The dealer works out his buying price based on what he really thinks he will sell the car at, whatever price is on the forecourt people will still haggle. Did you pay the full asking price when you bought the car ? The car trade is on its **** at the moment, hence poor trade in prices. Best bid I got today on a 2003 UK WRX was £11700 for 1 year old car in WR blue, go figure !!!

sorry if you found that offensive but its not a winter car so keeping it untill it was time for drop top weather might have saved you some money.
