Default New Leaf £12k + £70pcm battery

A few dealers selling new Leaf as above.

Anyone tempted?

There is a PCP which despite almost 10% APR has a balloon over £8k.

Have you driven one yet?

I have, was quite impressed with it tbh, especially if you do short commutes to work!

Yes, I liked it very much. Smooth, quiet, torquey.

The service requirements are: tyre rotation, brake fluid, cabin microfilter plus a look at the charging port, brake lines etc.

My daily mileage is 30 to 40 miles typical, absolute max of 60 miles.

Presently have GTR, Legacy and Golf GTI. Have winter tyres for last two. My wife now works from home but range would easily cover all her local use.

Trying to work out the real world savings, the Legacy is 10 years old but in very good order and worth a lot more to us than as a trade. It is imperious in winter. The Golf is 7 years old and worth more than it should be and might be ripe to get rid of.

I am a partner in a non VAT registered medical practice, my wife is a sole trader, below VAT threshold and may stay that way as high profit low turnover and not intending to take on employees, and selling mostly to non VAT registered businesses doesn't make sense for her to register voluntarily. Any potential tax manoeuvres here?

i work for a dealer group that has Nissan franchise, the leaf has been a hard sell since launch, however, things seem to be getting better, more demand for them now, we are actually selling a few with some of the offers about now.

How about a Renault Twizy? Would be even cheaper. You might be commuting a bit far for it to be tolerable though.

Too slow, doors are extra. Leaf feels better than a normal hatch in terms of comfort and refinement, plus more fun to drive because of the torque.

I have no idea what a leaf is, but I have to say personally, if I was in the market for a new car, the Skoda Yeti looks uber cool

4x4 in a cute looking body shell, with German DNA!!!

Working out the typical economy of a similar performing diesel or petrol, the £70pcm works out about the same ballpark as the cost of the fuel, and the road tax saving is trivial. Apart from engine oil changes there seems little extra servicing for many combustion engine cars in addition to the Leaf.

Leaf is an incredible little car. I used for for about a month John. My only issue was range anxiety .. ie worried that i didnt have enough miles to get me home .. work .. vice versa.
Nissan gave me the car to use as i expressed interest on a business lease. If i could have got past the range issue then i am sure i would have took one. They have now managed to extend the range on the MY13 UK built version. Interestingly i might look again in the new year.
For me having the luxury of having something high performance enabled me not to get bored with it.

I think the range issue would worry me, that said, i drove one of the 6 that were sold by nissan to barbados and it seems perfect for out there. My cousin live northern half of the island and works south, but that said the island is only 25 miles long.
