The problem for VW was not the same for Fiat and Mini in that the original Beetle was a very ugly car and the new new Beetle hasn't lost its bloodlines.

Aaargh I hate the current shape beetle - in convertible guise it is absolutely hideous and I can only ever recall seeing one driven by a bloke and he had highlights.....

Ive seen a number of "men" driving those poncy Citreon DS3'S . They look so damn girlie!!
