Audi A6 04-11
After my thread a few weeks back, I've ruled out the E90 saloon or touring. Not nearly enough room in the back seat to sit an adult comfortably, while I'm I the front(I'm 6'2") and the Missus when questioned, would rather go back to the E60.
Today however I sat in a 2008 A6 2.0 Tdi S-Line Multitronic in black with black leather and was very impressed. Could hardly believe it had 80k on it, as the wasn't a worn area on the interior at all.
IIRC you guys don't like the Multitronic box, but as I know FA about Audi, can anyone shed some light on their reliability? Was DSG ever an option on them?

I bitch about Audi reliability all the time but the fact of the matter is the the most common car (by far) i see broken down on my 80 mile round trip to work and back is Audi closely followed by VW. The company Audi at work is a lovely drive and i'd have it in a heart beat but my head rules my heart

The 2.0l diesel has a few problems mainly the fuel injectors which pack up - these retail for around 500.00 a shot.

There are plenty of other threads/examples if you search around. Shame really

I am not sure if you can buy them over the counter at a motor factors, it seems not by the number of people complaining about them and the cost. I seem to remember them being made by Siemens for VW/Audi/Seat, etc. I cannot imagine how they can justify the price - but they appear to have a monopoly then i guess it is about them making money. Given the volume/number that must be being made you would have thought they would be considerably cheaper.
TBH i have discounted buying a modern high pressure diesel due to the costs of parts such as the fuel injectors and also fuel pumps, a new Honda high pressure Diesel pump is £2000,00 + just for the pump. Speaking to my tame mechanic he is seeing a lot of expensive engine/fuel system related failures on a variety of diesel cars.
