Nissan 200sx
#2
Went from a s14a 200sx to a bugeye wrx. The scoob feels nicer to drive and has a more solid feel to it, but the Nissan is so much more fun! I've had 2 200sx's both around 270 bhp and would recommend them to anyone wanting to have some fun!
Regret selling mine, and I'm thinking of selling my wrx to but another rwd car.... not feeling the 4wd.

there seems to be lots of tuning bits etc for them. Not sure if i would cope with rwd as i went from FWD to AWD, mrs has a R33 and that nearly caught me out in the wet
Also there doesnt seem to be many good low mileage manuals about.
The 270bhp one you had, how did it compare in straight line speed with the impreza?

My wrx is standard so I can't compare what similar power would feel like. The first one I had was a s14 with no cats, and running 1 bar with cone airfilter. It use to lag until about 3k rpm then either grip and go or just snake all over the place in 1st and 2nd! Really good fun- just have to hold tight! The s14a I owned was nicer, but they come with 2 cats and I left one of them on so it didn't boost as fast, but still quick. Mileage doesn't really matter with the 200's. The first one had 135k miles and I sold the second with 105k miles. In 7 years of ownership I only replaced an intercooler due to cracked pipework, turbo gaskets (3 times) and a clutch. I'd be more concerned about corrosion on rear seals and around rear subframe.
I run a 14.4 1/4 mile in my second one, and my mate was running in the 13's with nitrus. Lol.
Go for it mate, and if you don't like it I'm sure we can do a deal with my scoob. Lol.

I had an S14a
lovely car great fun to drive gives you lots of feel when sideways!
standard trim they are smooth like the impreza but not as quick but you can buy mods very cheap & 300hp is resonably easy to achieve which is what mine was & was plenty of fun.
Would highly reccomend then!

I went from a S13 to a Blob. As someone has already said, the WRX is more refined and handles better, but the Nissan was loads more fun, felt more alive ........ and it had pop up lights !!!!!!

i think scoobs lose so much in transmission. once rolling there not that quick but driving my car with the type r box feels rapid. yea il agree but my skyline felt so flat but like u said nissans do feel alot more alive spec when looking at ur rear end in side window lol.
i would be so pissed off but his car pretty standard the mid range was good but once in 5th i was reeling him in again but still

Been looking at getting an S15 next year sometime. Very few available in the UK so importing may be the way to go. Oh and insurance is half the price of my Scoob which makes no sense but I'll take it. Actually an R34 GTR is cheaper too

i had a s14a and there good cars but watch out for rust!!!
The under sides rust like crazy. My mate just spent £4000 on one with some go faster bits and there is so much rot i cant believe it passed its last 2-3 mot's, mine was a bit of a rotter to

Thans for replies although threads a bit old, did look at a few but after driving a couple they don't seem anywhere near as quick as my impreza. transmission loss isn't much more tbh.
I do love the look of them, but as you say most need rust fixing. Ended up keeping the impreza, got a R33 skyline instead
