Cool

OK, if all goes well I may change my Nissan 200SX for mazda RX7.

I really enjoy the RWD antics of the 200sx so want to stick with RWD for now.

Someone has offered me a good price for 200sx so just sitting down to work out the figures.

Anyone had any experience of them? Any opinions?

Matt

Hi Matt,

The RX-7 is a great drivers car. But...

* A well kept rotary will last less than 100,000 miles.
* Overheating kills rotaries. Look for signs of a coolant/radiator change.
* On cold starts, the ECU keeps it a 2k tick over to "warm it up". Very bad. Blip the throttle to get it to 1k.
*Identify and be comfortable with the garage that will do the servicing before you buy.
*Upgrade carefully, it's definately not a case of "more" boost. More like, bigger intercooler NOW.

Did I mention that it's a Fabulous drivers car?

I have a few articles on a Super RX-7 build up. Let me know if you buy and I'll dig them up.

Cool

Matt a few years ago I had one of the Turbo II model (1991 H reg) and it was a great car, I was going to change it for one of the last models in 1994, but went for the Scoob instead.

I have a Jap Performance Magazine with a great article of buying/running an RX7 - do you want it?

thanks for the input guys.

I just don't know.

I'm buying a house which will half my mileage (to about 10k a year) so I figure I can afford it.

But at the moment I'm getting an average of 29 mpg, not bad for a 2l turbo.

An RX7 is what 15mpg ona good day??? But then again it's an insane motor!!!

What I've been offered is an import Type R. from what I know, the best model, best suspension 280 bhp. 40k (miles) on the clock, black, 7k otr.

Richard, would be interseted in the buying guide.

Cheers,

Matt.
