Drifting
Anyone on here do some skidding?
Hopefully going to shoot up to Santa Pod for the DWYB day tomorrow to meet some people and have a few conversations, but looking to get myself a "drift" car in due course, obviously going to take my time to find the right example, thinking about a shed to start off with maybe a E36 325, or 180/200 SX, guess these are a cheap way to get into the sport with minimum cost after it all inevitably goes wrong
Any wonderful words of wisdom from the SN massive?

Obviously the first job is weld the diff up. Personally i wouldnt pay more than a few hundred quid for a beginners drift car because it will get bent Also budget for a supportive bucket seat and a harness. Also prepare to spend some money on rubber. You may want to get a couple of spare sets of alloys aswell so you can keep on sliding all day Budget tyres are fine.

Just get freindly with your local tyre fitter and take there scrap ones off their hands for free, remember it costs them to get them binned so your doing them a favour really

Welded diff is an essential, i'm told that at drift days there is usally onsite tyre fitters there with loads of used rubber for £7 a corner....which is much cheaper than the £400 a corner the GTR demands!!

welded diff is not needed as much as people say it helps alot so worth doing but better saving for kaaz diff iv got a 200sx s14a as well and skids very nice on the standard diff and a 200sx would be a good car they skid easy try and stick to sr20det engine 200 there better then a s13 ca18det engine also when you get bord of the power the 200 is easy to tune i know a few people who are push over 400bhp on a standard engine just need new turbo injectors and a z32 maff and a tune check out www.driftworks.com there are hundreds of topics the same as this.
As said before the tyre van is normally at dwyb days always good to make sure to take some get some part worns from garage and take loads of fuel you will get adicted quick lol

Shame you didn't get a proper Drivers car instead of the GTR.

E46 M3 are a piece of **** to drift... The E30 325i was a little harder as i had it set up as a track car and it gripped like **** but did'nt have loads of power. The E30 325i sport comes a with LSD, i had to search for ages and spend £400 on a diff for mine.

Something about a cab with two helmeted chaps inside that just looks funny!
Looks like a lot of fun - I do like a wee little slide (in controlled conditions of course)!
Alloy - I imagine the GTR would need some crazy driving to drift!

In fairness matt it's not too hard with a bit of weight transfer (which we all know the Gtr has more than it's fair share of) and with the torque curve so much fury is on tap. Thing is it's not true drifting more extreme powerslides and it's a very expensive habit with the price of rubber!
