Does your car have a SAD (supplementary air device)? My old 205 GTi did and it was buggered. This meant until it was fully warm it would rev upto 2000 rpm, which with a straight through exhaust was pretty annoying (alng with the crappy MPG). I got a s/h part off a forum member and swaped them around making sure the replacement was scrwed into the bracket against the block so the heat off the engine actually did its job in opening/closing the valve within the SAD. I also bought new electrical connectors - the ones with plastic heads and metal terminals inside which clip on with a metal clip around the outside - these were buggered.

The difference was sublime!

Now if you don't have an SAD then ignore the waffle above, oh and post this in 'Other Marques' not NAR - you'll get more responce

Wondered where you were going with the SAD.

I've never known a car get Seasonal affective disorder.

Do 106's have ICV's? My 205 didn't and I'm not sure how different the Quicksilvers are. Infact I haven't seen one on my little 1.1 106 runaround when fettling.

i had a saxo that would rev up itself,

i removed the battery cable for a few mins and then refitted, sorted it out for a couple of months, til i had to do it again..
never got to the bottom of it but never done it often enough to bother me.

Thought so. Having a basic 1.1 which doesn't even have p/s or airbags, I doubt they bothered with anything like an ICV on my model

Now the GTI...
