993 C2
#1
Anyone run a std 993 C2 alongside your STI? Just wondering how different a drive it is.
In terms of acceleration, 100-160kmh, high speed stability (lets face it, the Scoob is not as rock solid as a low-slung traditional sports car above 150kmh) etc.
Don't want to compare a 993 Turbo or any special models (RS, GT3 etc). Just wondering how well a std Carerra will do against a STI.
Tks.

Only comment on 993 C4 Vs 290hp MY99 - and they were pretty similar.
C4 better of the line, but by 30 was level, scoob marginally ahead by 60/70, C4 then reeled me in and pulled away as aerodynamics became an issue.
Mid range scoob only competitive when turbo already spinning - ie sudden ocertaking opportunity the C4 had it marginally (no turbo to spin up).
All in all, virtually identical. C4 handles far far better though although extra weight means not as 'chuckable'.
C2 will have slightly poorer off the line traction, but better PWR and less transmission losses then the C4.

Hmmm, C4 handles "far far better"? I'm surprised at this comment. Is this high speed straight-line handling, gear 2 corners, or fast track corners. Not questioning your opinion, just curious.
I'm probably more interested in the C2 as its the "purer" and less complex car. Hopefully, it'll be a 911 that I can afford in a year or 2 (*Singapore pricing*)... Ideally, it'll be a 993C2S.

The C4 out-handled my MY99 every which way you looked. The impreza isn't a good handling car, it's just got bags of grip which makes up for it.
C4 was more stable (and capable - more 'planted') in high speed corners, better response in tight 2nd gear corners, and more sure footed on track.
The C4 had faster entry speed, exit speed, more controllable, better feedback, better turn in, smoother power delivery thus quicker/easier to throttle out of corners more aggresively - you name it. I honestly can't think of one way the scoob bettered the C4 (except cost/VFM/space tec )
Of the 993s, my fav was the RS - friend had one for 12 months - WOW - what a car. The 'S' was a looker though (only available as a '4S' over here though.
