Default New Focus RS??

I,m tempted i think folks, the V3 STI will stay with me too, i just love the way the RS looks, yes i know that,s not a all the reasons to go and buy one, wish they,d let you test drive them, i,ve heard it,s a case of putting your £500 deposit down before you even see the car.. do like them though, nice torque too..

25k though, i could forge the V3 for half that....

Anyone ordered one??

Last I read (in one of the specialist Ford mags) is that the full 2009 delivery of available cars have all got deposits on them.

Seen a few early reviews and they seem to be rating the revo-knuckle technology very highly. Being an RS its a good investment as they tend not to depriciate much, but IMO best waiting 2-3 years and getting a used one as thats the time they will loose the most value (just like the previous Mk1 FRS).

Very tempted too, my local dealer should be calling me in between 4-6 weeks when they take delivery of a couple of Demo's. Don't forget 25k is a starting price with no extra's, however not sure what extra's you'd want or even need on one of those.

Unfortunatly its really not the right time to buy for me as I really need 4 doors at the mo, also with the second hand car market being on its knees not sure how quickly mine would go for at the price I'd need, assuming the px would not be in my favour!

Do I want one, Oh yes, should I buy one, prob not and would be better off going for a 57 or 08 Hatch STi for sub 20k, being sensible (Mrs talking) would be much better off keeping my 06 as I've taking the worst part of the depreciation already, so another year and lets see what the ST prices are like then, never know they may even bring out a Ltd edition!!!

Spoke to Ford dude at Autosport, obviously raved about it, but said when they gave one to Marcos Gronholm at the Millennium Stadium to thrash about, they asked him to give it death and show everyone what it could do. He said no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't unsettle it!!! Wherever he turned it just went full throttle.

My brothers gettings one, he put his deposit down over 6mths ago and there was just short a 1000 with deposits down already.

They let us start it up at the close of play on Sunday. Sounds awesome, alot quieter than I expected, very reminisant of a golf VR6, suppose that'll be the straight 5 for ya.

I would be very surprised if any dealers run a RS demo.

Mog[/QUOTE]

Spoke to my dealer on Monday and he confirmed they were getting atleast one, did say that only serious buyers will be going out and not sure if you'd be able to drive yourself, think it will be a case of an hour at his desk going through everything to the point of handing over the cash and then being offered a ride, to be honest though by just seeing a production model in the flesh would make up my mind, when I went to see the Focus ST3 as soon as I sat in it I knew I no longer wanted one.

I'll await the call and certainly go and have a look in the showroom, may even take the Mrs and you never know she may come round to the idea, after all she did with teh Scoob!

I really wish people would stop going on about 300bhp and front wheel drive blah blah blah.

I think this car will will be astounding and set a new standard of what can be done with just the front wheels being driven.

Lol,

I,m with you there, seems to be lots of folks talking it down with torque steer etc, i guess they,ll be some with that kind of power through the front wheels like there was with the first Focus RS, but that handled really well imo, enjoyed mine anyway..

I'll hopefully be testing one.

My current ST has similar power and is fine, so the RS should be awesome with the add ons and LSD.

Ford isn't doing demo cars for the RS. They never with the MK1, and won't with the MKII.

The only way you'll get to drive one, is to either buy one, or the only other way is for the dealer to get a cancellation, take the car themselves and try to sell it. Due to the credit crunch they might struggle. So to get it sold, they'll register it and offer a very short demo run to anyone they think is a serious potential buyer.

Got to speak to Mr Gronholm (**** me he's thin) during the rehearsals for the Millennium Stadium stage and he said it was a very good car. But, it was indoors on a very smooth and dry surface.

Then had the chance to get up close for a look see and it really is quite special.

Would I swap to it from my Foggy STi? Nope.

As I posted in another RS Thread on a Ford dealer in Oxford offered my mate a discount down to the very low £20k bracket.

I do like the new RS but I would never buy one without a test drive. I nearly bought a Mk1 Focus RS years back but Ford said I couldn't test drive it , so they lost my custom.

A test drive it an absolute must for me before I buy.

That's right, I've got the ST and the exhaust note is very nice especially on the road it does remind you of the VR6 (my wife had one) If the ST is anything to go on the RS will be a very good car

The ST seems to go wherever I point it and I haven't unsettled it yet, I've just had Eibachs fitted too

Like I've said, if Ford does not go under, or kill the project at the last hour, should be intereting.

Unlikely, production isn't limited like it was with the mk1 FRS although in the current financial climate I can't see it flying out the showrooms.

I think I will wait till all the excitement has passed and then test drive one. £25k is a lot of money to spend on only a dream. Not sitting behind the wheel of a car before ordering is a leap of faith waaaaaaaaay beyond what I would do.

It will be wheel-spinning and torque-steering its way out, missing the door and through the windows.

I think this is where Ford have it all wrong.

Why not allow test drives? How stupid, just because they consider the car "special" they dont let you test drive. Rubbish, complete rubbish. This will lose them sales IMHO.

Its a hot hatch for gods sake, not an Enzo or Carrera GT!

If its THAT good then let people drive it and they will want the car. This is exactly how Porsche and others get a lot of their sales, they get you in the car and out on the road, after that you will find it hard not to buy.

Trouble is the MK1 Focus RS only had to be better then the ST170 which was not hard to do as the ST170 was slow and didnt handle that great. Thing is with the mk2 Focus RS it has to be better then the current Focus ST which is already a great car, I would be very suprised if the new Focus RS is much better then the ST's.

As stated above £25k is for the basic model.

I have heard that a fully specced one (with the half leather seats, 19" alloys, metallic paint etc) could be around £29k.
