S2000 or Audi TT 225
OK I've got about 8k + a P/ex ( Yaris 1 litre on a 52 plate ).
I'm after something that won't cost a fortune to run, does over 30mpg on the motorway, and I have the S2000 and TT 225 in my sights. Yet to test drive either of them, but will do that before I buy.
So, what should I be looking for, good and bad, in each of them?
And, anyone driven both, and how do they compare?

Chalk and cheese in the two cars, TT will be more forgiving of the two due to its 4wd and the power delivery of the engine, but ultimately less enjoyable than the S2000.
Look for the usual, body damage, suspension damage, uneven wear on tyres etc.
Have a look for forums that cover the TT and the S2K - sure there will be either a buyers guide or plenty of info on buying either. Pretty certain evo mag have previously done buying guide for both cars but cant seem to see it on their web site.

I'vw just got rid of my S2000 for a cheap runabout. It's THE best car I've ever owned. Absolutely fantastic. Very fast yet it doesn't seem fast when you're driving it. Handling is extremely good but you have to be careful in the wet!
My advice would be to test drive both and then make your decision.

I had a TT for a year and i would not tell anyone to buy one.
Nice car to look at and the Ladys like it (if that's your thing) but that's about it.
Dose not drive very well, you bang your head every time you get in it untill you get used to falling in to it backwards with your head tilled forward.
Not very good on petrol, about the same as my subaru and not very fast.
One thing it did have was good boot space! And with the back seats down it did very well at ikea

the TT is so dull compared to the s2000. Its like a normal car where as the s2000 feels like a proper little sports car (although it is starting to look slightly dated IMO).
Drive both ill be amazed if you prefer the TT, they arent great on the juice either if you go for the 225bhp version.

I have an S2000 and absolutely love it, it's a real treat to drive on a daily basis or just out for a weekend blast! Never really had any problem with not having the torque of a turbo, just drop it a couple of cogs and plant your foot.
Never really been that keen on the TT myself, looks dull in comparison (although the new one looks quite nice), they are entirely different cars.

TT225: Unless you're a shortarse the TT can be claustrophobic. It's really quite low and confining. Unless you're talking about the rag top... Of which I have no experience.
S2000s: Early ones had a few remarks about setup and steering in EVO. later ones handling/feel better. Lot's of threads about people binning them... Not a forgiving car if something goes wrong.

S2000 all day long.
Great engine, superb build, handling nowehere near as dodgy as some would lead you to believe - the very early ones were a bit of a handful I think.
Looks good too IMO!

In order of preference
S2000
RX8
BMW Z3M
TVR Chimera
TT 225.
Elise S1
But have to say TT 225's represent great value for money at the moment and have seen plenty go for as little at 6.5K and a nice daily drive car.

I saw the S2000 at the motorshow, looks great in the pearlescent white!
I want one!!!!
I've got a friend who bought a top spec TT brand new, he says it's the most uncomfortable car to sit in and drive.
Go for the S2000, it's next on my list, they're great on the track!

i went from a 350z and still convinced i made the right choice
Out of the 2 you have i would say s2000 all the way, the TT is boring with no feedback to the point i think its dangerous if driven v hard. Took a TTS out for a whole day recently and although a v nice car it give you nothing back through the wheel or brakes...
