Test drove a Corsa 1.7 TDCi (16v)
We test drove one with 17's and (sports suspension) really enjoyed how it drove, handled etc. Looks like we will more than likely be ordering one in the coming week if it goes to plan.
Has anyone owned the new shape corsa diesel here, any views on it longish term?

We just picked up a Fiat 500 diesel. Fully loaded with leather for just over £12k. Terrific residuals too. Currently getting 65mpg and really good fun to drive with an excellent ride. Highly recommended.

hmmm, my mum and dad just test drove one those. They hated every second they were in it...and that comes from my dad who is a Vauxhall fanboy
Maybe we just had a bad one. They reported that it was slow, noisy, bumpy and did not handle. Oh, and they did not like the interior and found the seats uncomfortable
I always find it amazing how two different people can see the same thing in such different light
Have you had the time to look at what VW are offering for the same price? As long as you liked it though, thats all that counts. And you do have better taste in cars than my mum..

Someone at work has the new Corsa TDi - not sure if it's the 1.7 or not, and can get over 70mpg without too much effort apparently! What you need when fuel is £1.25 a litre!
I would be wanting the Fiat 500 as well tho it has to be said! I think there's a 6 month waiting list on these however...

The 1.3 diesel can by all accounts be good for 65-70 MPG, the 1.7 is not far behind though, but with a lot more grunt.
I think we will be ordering one this comming week, for the 58 reg

I had a 1.3 diesel on loan for 2 days whilst my Furby was getting fixed after a bump, absolutely hated every single dire, woeful, painful, loathsome minute of it I still can't get over how, apart from interior trim, it's every bit as bad as the old Corsa The car I drove had less than 20 miles on the clock when it was delivered, and if you planted your foot in any gear when moving (2 and up) the engine revs rose, there was more noise, but you didn't go any faster. What you did get was a smell of burning fish as the clutch slipped, continuously, and by the end of the first day, completely deliberately by me ! Handling I thought was ordinary to bad, performance bad to awful. I didn't mind the looks, but only wimmin buy cars on looks, don't they ?
For my money I'd look at any of the VAG offerings first, then the Suzuki Swift or 500, maybe even a Ford, but my experiences of Vauxhauls have tainted me for life.
Suzuki and Skoda are currently doing 3 years 0%. Had a look at the new Fabia Sport with the 1.9 TDi PD105 engine for teaching in. Great chassis, superb build, brilliant engines, just a shame about the looks. The Swift diesel is very underpowered by comparison, but is a great little car to drive.

Subject to that going well we are buying one.
