Just one from personal bitter experience. Our parents traded in a nearly-new 1979 wonderfully modified Mini 1275GT (even had a carphone in it back then!) against a Talbot Solara! My brother and I staged a sit-in and the dealer had to prise us out of the Mini at handover. Pity the poor Mini: it ended upside down in a dyke (fnarr) a few months later. Just to add insult to injury, mum and dad went and bought another Solara not long afterwards. Shame on us!

A classic scoob in any colour or form I'd sooner remove my own heart with a spoon!
Seriously, an ATOS, sorry box on wheels made of corn flake packets.

My old Mitsi GTO embarassed the hell out of me once. Was in an Arco carwash (yes I know its bad for the paintwork, wouldn't dream of taking my scoob through now!) and the f'ing thing broke down while I was in there! I'd been having problems with it starting before (turned out to be a knackered ECU) When I got to the end of the wash tunnel I tried to start the car up but got absolutely no response! I needed the 2 polish workers to push me out the other end so they could clear the massive queue that had built up behind me!

Ford SportKa. Yes, I owned one new when my son was born in attempt to be 'sensible' and not spend money on cars.
No idea why EVO mag rated it so highly.
It lasted less than a year.
Replaced with a classic STI with gold wheels ... which is much more sophisticated and less embarrassing.

Once had a clutch the clutch changed on my old valver at some dodgy backstreet garage. It was only a couple of miles from work so very kindly one of the guys from the garage picked it up and left me courtesy car, which to my horror turned out to be lada samara. That was an embarresing 2 miles and scary aswell, by far the worse handling car ive ever driven!

Once spoke to a lad who`s misses had been working on her car for a show, and had broken her leg the week previous, so he offered to driver it and her to the show. Imagine the embarasment of pulling on to a field full of lads in a Glitter effect pink calibra! That would rate quite highly i reckon!

My old Pug 205GTi used easily 10+litres of oil (maybe close to 20ltrs) on the trip from Preston to Dundee after I picked it up, IIRC its around 250-300miles?
I never drove that car again, had been caught by an "eBay bargain" and it put me off french cars for life.
Cheers,
Grant

Why and what do you drive ?
For the record I do most of my driving in a 4 year old diesel Mondeo. Not exciting, but not really embarassing either. Occasional fun in the other half's DC5 or my classic scooby when I can be bothered Insuring/Taxing/Mot'ing it.
