which car

Ok, now I've moved out and bought a sensible car (2.0 mondeo) after coming from a V8 lexus I don't think much of it! Anyway I'm thinking I can afford something a bit more sporty.
I still need decent fuel economy as I do about 22,000 miles a year.
My shortlist is -
Mitsubishi FTO
Nisan 200sx
Nissan Skyline GTS
Toyota Celica 2.0
Toyota MR2
Any opinons??????

What do you call "decent" fuel economy? I'm just converting my Legacy 2.5 to LPG, so although it "only" does 28mpg, it'll cost about half the normal fuel costs to do that. Plus, the 2.5's pretty quick.
LPG can be put onto almost anything, as long as it hasn't got a turbo. So, why not think along the lines of a big-block car and convert it....?
Oh, and don't bother with the FTO - it's a load of garbage - you have to belt it to get anything out of it, and even then it's nasty. If you're used to the torque of a V8, you're going to HATE an FTO!

A friend has a new Celica 190 - pretty fine car. Not bad MPG on a run (35+), fun handling and pretty nippy.
Question though....If you have a sensible Mondeo - why will you do 20000+ per year in a sports car?
Why not do all normal mileage in the Mondeo, then get a really fast car just to drive for the sheer hell of it?
Gary
330d - very sensible, not very fast
BEC (Westie) - not very sensible, VERY fast
SCREAM IF YOU WANT TO GO FASTER

I should say I've owned both an FTO and 200sx (new shape) and enjoyed them greatly. I know you have to boot the FTO to get anything out of it but as an all round performer I was quite impressed (sh1tty fuel economy tho only marginally better than the Lexus!).
Budget is only about 6k.
Ideally I don't want 2 cars as one would have to be parked on the road, and only having 2 yrs ncd insuring 2 cars wouldn't actually save me that much money over the fuel savings.
I used to get 29mg out of the 200sx, and they are a hoot.
Anyone got experiences of the MR2 and Celica?

For 6k you can get an early MR2 GT.
Plus points are: 30mpg most of the time, more on the motorway. Very reliable and durable. Comfy seats, nice stereo. Quicker than most hot hatches (0-60 7.2, Top speed 135). Tail out fun whenever you want it.
