Default A4 1.8T 190bhp

I've been looking at these on the net today and was thinking of having a look at 1 in the flesh tommorow.
I've narrowed the choice down to 2, both 54 plates at £12k, both from Audi dealers with 12 months warranty

190 s-line - 64k
163 limited edition - 33k

now a chip will take the 163bhp model to 195bhp so thats not a deciding factor but i was hoping some1 on here might have driven/ owned 1 of these cars and could comment on problems with the higher mileage s-line and would the 33k car be a better buy

i've had several VAGs (just bought a mk5 golf ) so know about coil packs, mafs, etc but these should be covered by the Audi warranty

Check the rear footwells for signs of leaks, IIRC the A4's suffer the same faults as the Passats for water problems.

Air filters, the air con drains in to the rear footwells, but the clever part is they put the air filter housing within breach of the run off resevoir. If the plugs get blocked (which they can do quite easly), water builds up and runs in. Other issues are around fit and finish of the seals between the engin bay and the dash/front of the car.

Have a search for water leaks and VAG group and see what you find. I was astonished. I had the filter/dash issue on my passat. Brilliant car flawed by water ingress. I know a number of people that have VAG cars which take forever to demist, I always mention the water ingress problems suffered by VAG cars as its a common problem and mine always took forever to demist.

PMSL I did a quick search to see what came up for Audis and found this straight away !

At the same price I would get the one with the lower milage, however you have to list waht other extras the s-line has and see if you can do without.

The 163's remap to about 195bhp, but then the 190's remap to 225bhp which would make it a rapid car!

Build quality on these is excellent - I've had one for a couple of years, and no problems with the car itself - only issues have been with the engine (engine management problems)

The S-line's look miles better than the Limited Edition ones (and I bet the S-line has leather), but I think if you got a set of 18" s-line wheels of Ebay they'd look similar.

We had a 53-plate 190bhp S-Line 4dr from new and it was brilliant.. never put a foot wrong in 40k miles that we had it.

Performance was good and economy was also fine IMO, extremely well built and looks brilliant with the S-Line extras too.. we had a bright red model with tinted windows & aluminium trim and it turned heads!! Better built than the 2005 330d M-Sport Cabrio that we replaced it with..... will be returning to the four rings once the BMW has done its job.

Cheers,
Grant

Thanks for the replies
As far as i can see the difference between the LE and -line are
silver inlays in dash/ doors
18" alloys
1/2 leather interior
slightly different bodykit (s-line and GMBH)
163bhp and 190bhp
5 speed and 6 speed

what sort of mpg were you all getting as some reviews say low 20s (1 reason i sold the last scoob) and some say 30s

Saying that I'd go for the s-line, and its only 64k miles which isn't not much anyways
