Whoooah, your wrong. The 1.8T uses a recirculating dump valve, not an atmospheric dump valve. The atmospheric is not suitable as it messes up the maf ive been told.
The whooosshhhh on a recirculating dv is less audible than the atmospheric but much louder than the o.e. dv.
jabbasport down south fit them free of charge but it wouldnt be worth the petrol.

depends on the ECU of the car. I know a guy who runs an APR chipped Golf with a Blitz Supersound DV which was actually meant for a Scoob STI V4... all it needs is a bung for the "spare" hose that is left unused...
I have never risked it and run a Hyperboost (recirc) DV on my Golf. You can buy my DV if you want - £7900 and I'll even throw in the Golf GTI! With a decent CAI (cold air intake) or Green Dynatwist, you can hear a "woosh" when you lift off on boost - it's nothing compared to a proper VTA DV but you get something... SaxoBoy loved mine when he drove my car
Seriously, they take all of 5 mins to swap and it is just 3 jubilee clips to do it - don't pay someone to do it

Mikes DV is very quiet and subtle but sort of sounds like Darth Vader breathing -
