Two red i's = you tomorrow morning !
There are the old non PD engines 90 and 110
PD 100, 115, 130, 150 are the eight valve PD (Pumpe Duse) versions of the older engines.
SDI, stands for Slowly Does it, very slow very for masochists, company hacks and tight ***** only, these are lower powered versions, 64 bhp, maybe even without a turbo.
Basically all the PD engines are good, 115 bhp moves our Sharan well enough so it doesn't get in its own way, they reckon the 130 is preferable for daily driving than the 150 as it has a smaller turbo that spools up quicker so nicer power delivery. Mother in law has a 100 bhp Golf, ok around town but slow elsewhere, then its an auto
There is no hard and fast rule to tell the horsepower from the badge, I believe that the red letters were dealer fitted, plus who's to say its not been changed, sure fire way is the build sticker, usually in the boot area that will say in KW the power output, find out the KW, (kW) x 1.341 = hp.
More lately they fit sixteen valve 140 or 170 engines but I think the PD engines still turn up in lower power models.
Thn there the 5 and six cylinder versions but I dont suppose they fit that in small vans.

J4CKO, I always thought you and j4ckos mate were the same person (second username) Hmmm......
Anyway, what you said sounds absolutely spot on though they did do a 180BHP PD anniversary edition - it was the fastest diesel I have ever rode in!
The engines main feature is the turbo, gutless before it boosts, then wheel spins like beeatch
Any idea what BHP the V6 is?

No, he isn't a figment of my imagination, my imagination isn't that sick and twisted, I was out with him last night, he was hell bent on 'pushing the envelope', in other words getting very very drunk cos he is in the doghouse with his wife.
Oh, and did nobody notice that I have a Shift key on my keyboard, did you really think I answer myself ?

Erm NO. The anniversary had a PD150 engine.
The most power as standard out of the 1.9 engine is found in the Ibiza Cupra diesel, which has a claimed 160hp. I say claimed as VW diesels usually make more power than claimed. Skoda Octavia's with the 2.0 PD140 engines invariably make 160+hp as standard. My old Fabia vRS made 144hp standard against the claimed 130hp.

....and my R32 was kicking out 260BHP after a free re-map from VW (to solve an engine hesitation problem)
