Test drove one about a year ago and was really impressed. Great build quality and BAGS of torque. Great everyday car, that will put a smile on your face.
Fraction of the price of the R32, and although not driven a R32 doubt there would be much in it.

Mate had one - Great car, just make sure Cam Belt has been done with all associated tensioners rollers etc in accorrdance with VW schedule. If they let go it's bye bye to £££££

I ran one for three years from new and it never missed a beat.
Sold it and regretted it.
Mine had winter pack and bigger alloys.
Great traction, great sound and not too bad on juice.
I would recommend one.
However, as with most cars, make sure its been serviced properly including haldex oil changes.
Oh, one down side is the boot isn't that big.
Nik.

I ran an R32 for a year but looked at the 4Motion afterwards.
A bit more of a cruiser than a back road blaster unless you sort the suspension but it's a very good and comfy car - A bit thirsty but not as bad as a Scooby - I like them, especially with 17" Santa Monica alloys!

Afternoon people,
Im goin to view a '01' V6 4Motion tomorrow in black, mint condition with FSH
& full recaro leather interior, meanwhile another option has just come up! !
An S3. Its a '99' (210bhp) & has 10k less on the clock but only has part SH & has been parked up for a number of months. It also has a cracked windscreen, and numerous minor defects on thew bodywork.
Both are goin for around the same price
Wot shud i do?? ?? ?? ??

Go with the cared for one!
The V6 is a creamy engine, OK the handling is as dull as dishwater and understeer city, the S3 is only a little better in that respect, but an uncared for car is a recipe for disaster!

I have an S3 and have owned a V6 4M and i would probably rate the Audi higher but there again mine is in very good condition.
As for your choice i would probably go for the Golf as it appears to have been properly looked after.
Out of curiosity how much are they going for?
Nik.

Drove a 4-motion about 3 months ago.
Only downside I discovered was the fuel filter clips are a *******, and when one broke, it landed me ill for a week with a bloodshot eye!
Loads of torque, nice balanced handling.
