Mondeo zetec or Vectra sri
Hi all
Hi all. In a few months i will be a father for the first time therefore i'm looking to get a cheap, reliable and safe car but with a hint of sportiness. I've always had quick cars so this will be a bit of a come down for me.
I've only got about £1800 to spend and i'm considering a vectra 2.0 sri (140) facelift model or a mondeo mk2 2.0 zetec.
My head says the mondeo is the better buy for reliability but my heart says the vectra looks alot more sporty and has better seats etc
I've read alot of horror stories about the vectras but they can't all be bad can they?
Which should I go for?

Out of thise two a Mondeo would be my choice. Better built, better handling, less likely to break. Never had good experinces with Vauhall Vectras, ****e handling and reliability.

Yoy say you want sportiness, so you will want good handling, nicely weighted steering with feedback and good turn in bite.
You have just ruled out the Vectra which is a poor handling lifeless piece of sh**e.
See if you can find a Zetec-S Mondeo which will give you a more sporty look than the standard Zetec.
Cheers

You've just confirmed what my head has been telling me.
I know what i really want...a primera sport + but I can't find one anywhere near me.
The pug is rulled out as I'm not a fan of french cars tbh.
Thanks

I have just sold my mondeo to buy my subaru..and I couldnt fault it what so ever.. I paid just over £1100 for mine.. and got same back for it when I sold it 6 months later. Not driven the zetec one but mine was the ST24....
would have another without hesitation..

Would love a st24, drove one before and really liked it however i think the fuel and servicing would cost just a little to much and the reason for changing cars is to save me some money for the family.
