thanks for the sensible replies. decided not to rise to the bait of reply no. 1

would have loved to keep the scooby, but needed something capable of returning over 40 mpg, for some long work trips.

Yes it does torque steer, but out brakes (Alcons) and handles (888 suspension) a petrol VXR for example.

best compromise i could find, and with only 100 built, should hold its value. There are also a few other former scooby owners running them too.

33 black, 33 white with the remainder Silver or Red (not sure how many of each) total run of 100. Apparently there is also 1 in Gold which was a prototype/Concept

Nice car mate. Looked at getting one myself, but the vauxhall dealer was shockingly useless, so they never got my money...nor my STi PPP in part-ex.

Nice! From a fellow oil burner! I also considered one but the Dealer in Louth wouldn't give me a test drive! Thurlbys isn't it?

I've got an Octavia vRS TDi with 170bhp and 350Nm. On my way home from work, If I drive as if I have the kids in the back, the journey average is 50mpg. If I drive like I stole it, it drops to 30ish.

Bearing in mind, when I did this in the Clio 182 Cup, it was 40mpg on careful mode and 20mpg on Blitzkrieg!

The Clio was a lot more fun though but it didn't half rattle

I think you'd find it's probably tuned up to the point of near destruction already!

apparently the 1.9 cdti is good for in the region of 240bhp and 385lbft using a re-worked turbo and new FMIC.

down to 41.5 mpg now due to over-use of the Sport button. Still bullying fast lane hoggers in their BMW pluto barges
