330 lbs of torque steer how fun?

J4CKO 28 April 2007 10:23 PM

I love Torque steer myself, looks nice that Astra.

brickboy 29 April 2007 09:21 AM

It does look sweet.

Needs a black panel above the zorst, tho', to hide the soot marks ;) :D

NotoriousREV 29 April 2007 09:40 AM

Looks nice and I haven't thought that about a Vauxhall in a long time ;)

ScoobyDoo555 29 April 2007 11:56 AM

One VERY nice looking car :)

Good choice

Dan

thanks for the sensible replies. decided not to rise to the bait of reply no. 1

would have loved to keep the scooby, but needed something capable of returning over 40 mpg, for some long work trips.

Yes it does torque steer, but out brakes (Alcons) and handles (888 suspension) a petrol VXR for example.

best compromise i could find, and with only 100 built, should hold its value. There are also a few other former scooby owners running them too.

ScoobyDoo69 29 April 2007 01:39 PM

Was this in Touchwood in Solihull last night? If it's the same car, looks great :)

Nat 29 April 2007 02:57 PM

That looks swish

Are they all that colour?

king of the evo 29 April 2007 03:06 PM

33 black, 33 white with the remainder Silver or Red (not sure how many of each) total run of 100. Apparently there is also 1 in Gold which was a prototype/Concept

BigAl024 29 April 2007 04:26 PM

Nice car mate. Looked at getting one myself, but the vauxhall dealer was shockingly useless, so they never got my money...nor my STi PPP in part-ex.

Steve vRS 29 April 2007 06:23 PM

Nice! From a fellow oil burner! I also considered one but the Dealer in Louth wouldn't give me a test drive! Thurlbys isn't it?

What mileage do you get when your being "naughty"? Not 47 mpg I guess.

SPIDERWRX 29 April 2007 06:33 PM

I've got an Octavia vRS TDi with 170bhp and 350Nm. On my way home from work, If I drive as if I have the kids in the back, the journey average is 50mpg. If I drive like I stole it, it drops to 30ish.

Bearing in mind, when I did this in the Clio 182 Cup, it was 40mpg on careful mode and 20mpg on Blitzkrieg!

The Clio was a lot more fun though but it didn't half rattle :D

Yes Thurlby's were the supplying dealer of these new. Haven't nailed it yet, so averaging 45 mpg at the minute.

wrx-kris 01 May 2007 11:26 AM

you can prob grab a tunning box for it too...

warrtster 01 May 2007 11:30 AM

joey_turbo 01 May 2007 12:14 PM

Not heard of these before. Is it a factory standard Special edition or something?

I think you'd find it's probably tuned up to the point of near destruction already!

apparently the 1.9 cdti is good for in the region of 240bhp and 385lbft using a re-worked turbo and new FMIC.

down to 41.5 mpg now due to over-use of the Sport button. Still bullying fast lane hoggers in their BMW pluto barges:lol1:
