Default Superchips - Leon FR 170 TDi remap - 213bhp !!!!

How fast would one of these things be?

I imagine it would give a stock scooby a run for it's money once rolling !

Diesel has come a long way !

I imagine with frontwheel drive and no doubt a huge torque figure, it will be wheelspin central

3rd and 4th will be fun though

I make it around 10.5s 60-100mph so it would certainly cause a lot of problems for stock UK WRX's. Classics would still have the legs but not by much (a car length or so). It would certainly have 'pants down syndrome' in that the TDI could easily catch a scooby out with its low-down grunt. I personally find remapped Ibiza Cupra TDI's more interesting as they are around 1200kg and can hit 200bhp from a remap

A decent map WILL NOT smoke. My old Fabia vRS was 160 WHP and did not smoke. Midrange, some diesel are silly fast!

I have seen a few chipped Fabias leaving a cloud behind them and these were supposedly from a reputable company. 160bhp seems like a sensible figure. I think it's when you go OTT that you start to have "pollution" issues

I find that my mapped vRS smokes sometimes, especially if med-heavy throttle from low down revs in third say.

Followed a vRS the w/end on the M6, his seemed to puff each gear change.

All part of the chug-chug power.

These diesels nowadays, when mapped, give plenty of cars a surprise.

Very rapid in the dry, but as stated above expect LOTS of wheelspin on tarmac anything other than bone dry, especially from a standstill.

I currently have an Ibiza 130pd TDI Sport, but since the arrival of the my daughter we need five doors and bigger boot, so considering one of these.

Mmm. Scooby performance and more from a mid priced car, that would probably be much quicker in the mid range and feel alot better as a daily driver. And yet still be very comfortable, return good mpg, reliable and go on for ever.

Ever wondered if there is life after a scoob

The new generation Vauxhalls never end to amaze me now as well with the VXR petrol range with 240bhp de-tuned out the box.

I had a custom RICA map, not to be confused with an off the shelf generic job. Most companies can customise but usually it isn't cost effective as you need rolling road and tarmac road time and could cost up to £1000 I think it makes the difference though. 160hp is at the wheels, so sensible but still more than most

I wondered, and with a Lotus Elise, a 205mi16 twin carbed, and a golf gt tdi under my belt after I left Imprezas I went and got another Impreza. VFM and performance per pound older Imprezas are unbeatable in many areas. Obviously there are better cars out there, but not too many in the 6k bracket.

True - it does seem to be the older scoobs that makes more sense in some respects. But then my current toy is a RX7 with circa 320rwhp which cost same sort of money, and pounds per smiles nothing comes even close, or ever likely to. But that said if I wanted 4 doors doors and a little more refinment for around 6K then I guess I would still look no further than another scoob.

But if I had 15-25K to spend and at my time in life (age) I would have to now seriously look at what some other motor manufacturers have to offer.

I have already decided my next car in a year or 2 time, and it will defo be a second hand 335I or 335D.

I beat you both. My T5 owes me about £1600 all in. It has an ambitious 304hp but it is safe, reliable, practical, no one wants to nick it, insurance is cheap, it does 24mpg average and will touch 155mph and tag along with some real exotica M3's, 996's, New age STI's etc.

so how much does one of those re-mapped babies go for then?

whats the MPG on them?

I've just bought a pug 206 TD sport, travelling 90 miles/day & loving the fuel costs, just missing the handling & the poke of the scoob though.

I tested one mate, drove pretty well as standard though I would stuck with the 17s over the optional 18s. Salesdroid at LC Charles wasn't great to deal with, so maybe try Premier first.

Problem is your not going to get much more than 30 mpg from a Cupra R, I've now got a family, and needed the bigger boot. I know its a bit of an old mans car, but I opted for a VW Bora PD130 ST. Plenty of poke (even more with remap, 190bhp ish) and I regularly get 50-55 mpg. Depends whether your pockets are deep enough for the fuel, if mine were I would have the Cupra R.
