Talking New car's being delivered in a couple of hours

OK - it's nothing special but there is something nice about a brand new car.

Having run my own car for work for about 6 years now I've decided to re-join the company car fold because I'm doing about 35,000 miles a year and I don't want to be underwriting the associated depreciation and maintenance costs.

Having tried a few cars, I opted for the 170hp Passat diesel sport estate with a manual box. I tested the 140hp version which pulled like a train so this one should be a riot. I had a few quid left over from the allowance so I ordered some goodies (even thought the standard 'Sport' spec is pretty generous):

- xenons
- electric glass sunroof
- PDC front and rear
- winter pack
- iPod prep

Feedback in due course.

Cheers

The model/spec sounds desirable. I would be interested on your honest opinion on the ride comfort. How big are the wheels on the sport?

Thumbs up

Hi Andy

The pool car I've had for the last 3 months is essentially the same car (a saloon with an auto box). Standard spec is 17" wheels but the tyres (Dunlop SP Sports) have a sensible profile on them; 235/45. I think the ride is a good compromise between being firm and pliant but I'll give you further detail in due course.

Cheers

Cool

Very pleased so far Andy.

I just wish the engine wasn't so tight Still, got a couple of long trips coming up so it won't be long before the old bird's stretching her legs.

Not sure why but it feels a lot more 'planted' than the saloon. That was supposed to be a Sport spec but having driven them back-to-back, I'm beginning to wonder.

More to follow...

Cheers

600 miles on the clock now so I'm getting a bit more liberal with the throttle. The pick up between 1,500 and 3,000 RPM is just incredible; especially in 3rd gear. The car's returning about 40 mpg which isn't bad.

It makes me wonder what it'd be like with a re-map

Will do.

The car's getting a long run up to the north-east next week so should come back more-or-less run in.

BTW Andy, depending on your location, you're more than welcome to have a drive sometime.

Cheers
