Default 23 yr old Ford costing at least £22K

A 23 yr old Ford and the bidding is at £22K so far... what is it?

A rather rare Capri Tickford with ultra rare mileage?

Nope

bit mad that for a XR2, my mate sold his mint Series One RS Turbo the other day that had only done 27,000 miles from new and he had nearly £12,000 for it.

WOW! My first car was a 1.3 Fiesta Supersport in 1987 (complete with the black S go faster stripes) and I loved it.

I'm surprised Ford don't want it back!

Is he av'in a larf, is he av'in a larf ???

£22k for a Mk1 XR2. Would struggle to justify that on a mint low milage Escort Cosworth.

If I was him, I'd have took the £22k and ran. Some greedy people out there.

My Capri's kept in a bubble.

And if keeping it in one means it's worth £22k, it would be down the road, sentimental or not

Looks like his mates have bidded it up to the reserve to me. I've never done that, never

That's madness...

Nice as it is, £22k is silly money.

A mate of mine has an Escort RS1600i and that's a lovely car, it's in amazing condition, but he paid a hell of a lot less for it.

I wouldn't give you a tenner for it!

It's an 80s ford for heavens sake!!

Some folks have no wit, what is the point of a car kept in a bubble? what would you do with it if you bought it?

Link not working mate - RS1600I was the best of the bunch. With the S1 following a close second. Bet you wished you mothballed that supersport now though. Probably worth 5K-10K now if you could believe the above

Link now working.....

Supersport would be worth a bit, but the Series 1 was the cleanest of the bunch (and now sadly no longer recorded as Tax'd or SORN with DVLA), just couldn't be bothered to enter it at shows.
Prefered to go to shows as a spectator rather then exhibit, as you spend too long waiting for judges in the concours.

my dad has an RS1600i with 7000 miles on it, totally as new, even has the new car smell still inside. Its got a turbo technics conversion on it too, which was done by the supplying dealer, although for originality sake i would prefer it without.

Yeh on the Series 1 Database, with pictures I supplied. but a guy/car dealer from the RSOC forum done a HPI check on it and it hasn't been taxed since 2002 IIRC.

Unless you know different, if so can you send me the info...

cheers

Look on the bright side, just because it's not been taxed, doesn't mean it's dead, it could mothballed, being restored, or even just wearing a private plate

If you do a search on my XR4x4 it doesn't show up, I know it's still alive coz it's sat outside my kitchen window:

Or it was, when I left, the way MrsD is scything through my 'collection' it could be gone
Not likely though, the daughter will keep an eye on it, it's got sentimental value for her, it was registered on the day she was born
