Default Golf GT super/turbo what do you think

Hello,

Did anybody see the Golf GT on 5th gear last night?- So after the heroic Lancia delta S4 we have a car with both forms of foreced induction( turbo/supercharger)!!

Ive owned both supercharged and turbo cars and they both have pros and cons, be interesting to see how well they compliment each other!

I presume VW down tuned them so that it wasnt too much of a match for their GTI, wont be long before tuning companies knock up a little somthing to give it some more ponnies

I didn't see 5th Gear, but having read about them they seem ok. It is only a 1400, so not sure how much more you could safely add, but IIRC they are over £18500? To many other better cars out there I think.

I belive the 1.4GT TSi is directly replacing the 2.0 FSi version, as it outperforms the n/a 2.0 in every area, making it rather pointless to continue producing it. Thus the 1.4TSi is priced accordingly - inline with a 2.0 car as it performs like one.

Not forgetting that Nissan did the same trick on the Micra many years ago .....albeit after the S4

I have driven this car in 140bhp guise, they also do a 170bhp version,
For me it's a decent enough car to drive but it just seems very overpriced, it's not that far off the standard GTi price.

edited to say it probably has emmisions benefits for company car owners, maybe that's the point of them?

Price seems well OTT but its an interesting package, i wonder how much weight difference there is between the GTI and GT?

There would be no way that VW would make the GT anyway of a match for its hot hatch king!!
